Have you seen Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island yet? YAS’s brand new reimagining of Gundam’s worst episode is now available to stream on Crunchyroll as of April 27. This well-received film takes one of the franchise’s lowest moments and makes it into something not just watchable, but great.
Also streaming on Crunchyroll: Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is back, and things are getting real for our characters as they exit the comfortable confines of the school and begin to face the true consequences of a brewing war. Poor Guel, I’m sorry I called you a jerk in one of my earlier release guides.
There’s even more interesting Gundam news on the horizon, too. In early May we learned about Gundam Wearwolf, a spinoff manga drawn by the infamous artist of the off-color mecha parody Space Battleship Tiramisu. I can only imagine what kind of kits a werewolf-inspired mobile suit is going to inspire. Until then, here are the latest for April and May:
1/144 HG Zowort Heavy (pictured at top)
We last saw this combat-ready suit making Guel Jeturk’s life even worse than usual as it engaged Dawn of Fold forces on Earth. With large-scale firearms mounted on both shoulders, it’s a degree more aggro than the regular Zowort.
Unlike the Dilanza units at the Asticassia School of Technology, this bulky mecha is ready for war. With thick shields and thicker thighs (I’m kidding, kind of), the Dilanza Sol seems to be steady on its feet.
